Just how fast is Thomas? The Seahawks have red lines running the length of their practice fields, inset just a few yards from the sidelines. The space between the red lines is the area a safety is expected to cover. ”They say from red line to red line here, but he can get sideline to sideline,” cornerback Brandon Browner said. ”He can open up the wrong way and get Youth Earl Thomas Authentic Jersey back to the other side before the ball gets there. That’s the kind of speed he has.” Because Thomas has that kind of speed and the ability to cover ground, it allows Browner and Sherman to play the physical, press defense that fits their styles, knowing that their help will be able to get there. ”It just allows them to be normal. It’s as simple as that,” Richard said.

Earl Thomas’ reaction to Jairus Byrd contract demands: LOL

The guy who is the shortest and among the lightest, not to mention also one of the youngest (24). As good as Thomas has been, he is driven to be even better or do it better than its ever been done before, as coach Pete Carroll likes to put it. I think during the offseason I matured from a little boy to a man, on and off the field, Thomas said. It feels great just to see it paying off for me and all my hard work. A lot of the stuff that I couldnt do last year, Im definitely doing it this year. And Thomas is doing without what had been his trademark dreads flowing from underneath his helmet, which he cut during the offseason as a visual sign of his maturity. Hes also doing it as a father, as his daughter, Kaleigh Rose, was born last September. And hes doing it in the proper spirit, as well. Just the mentality, Thomas said when asked what all this has been rooted in. You want to prove everybody wrong.

Part of the reason the two sides were reportedly unable to work out a long-term deal is because Byrd wants to be the ” highest paid safety ” in the NFL. Not the highest paid safety in the AFC East or the AFC or in the state of New York, but in the entire NFL. That honor currently belongs to Pittsburgh’s Troy Polamalu , whose four-year deal pays him an average of $9.125 million per season. Seahawks safety Earl Thomas noticed Byrd’s demands and had this reaction on Twitter. Pay that man..lolRT @SInow : Jairus Byrd reportedly demanding’ to be NFL’s highest paid safety http://t.co/EKYjfdmYSE Earl Thomas (@Earl_Thomas) July 15, 2013 Now, there seems to be only two reasons why Thomas would react with an LOL: 1. Thomas doesn’t think Byrd should be the highest-paid safety in the NFL. 2. It’s a reverse-psychology LOL, and Thomas actually wants the Bills to pay Byrd. If the Bills make Byrd the highest-paid safety in the NFL, that’s where Thomas can presumably begin negotiations when he starts talking extension with the Seahawks, which should happen after this season.

Seahawks safety Earl Thomas has no problem with Shermans propensity to pop off. We need that, Thomas told Erik Kuselias of NBCSNs Pro Football Talk. He feeds off his own energy and thats him as a ballplayer. You cant make a guy get outside of his own character. Thats what so great, we have so many personalities yet we have the same vision and the same goal as far as dominate every chance we get and get where we want at the end of the year. So is there a limit to how much Sherman should talk? Not when youre making plays like that, Thomas said. He can talk all he wants, hes backing it up. Were behind him 100 percent. There is no one else I would want as teammates other than the two guys we have outside as cornerbacks. Shermans talking on Thursday included the word perspicacious, which means hes also better at Scrabble than Skip Bayless . 33 Responses to Earl Thomas says Richard Sherman can talk all hewants Smarterthanyou says: Oct 4, 2013 7:37 AM Richard Sherman backs up everything he says. Im going to take credit for that one. Im always the last one they call out on Sundays, Thomas said. Its not about me. Its not about anybody. Its about the collective group and what we have going, and what were set out to do. There are some in the world of advanced football analysis that continue to doubt what Thomas can do. Pro Football Focus , a respected website that tracks every snap during the NFL season, said Thomas last year missed 20 tackles, including the playoffs. What they couldnt track was how many of those potential tackles Thomas was able to position himself for because of his quickness. During the preseason, Thomas expressed a desire to improve that part of his game, tackling, that some view as a weakness. Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin, one of many on the roster who felt dismissed at one time or another, thinks the criticism could wind up helping him.
