Keys To The Seahawks Game

Seattle Seahawks: Will Chris Clemons’ Return Be Triumphant?

Theres nothing wrong with finishing strong. But facing an outmanned team like Jacksonville seems like a good time to get off to a fast start and put the Jaguars away early, and maybe get some of the backups some work. It might also be a good psychological boost for the offense, which dating to last season has scored just one first-half touchdown in the past five games (including playoffs). Keep the flags in check Seahawks players and coaches readily acknowledge they are as frustrated by the teams penalty situation as are fans Seattles 19 penalties for 183 yards rank No. 29 in the NFL. It has been a particular issue on offense, which has been called for 16 (14 enforced).

He and Cliff Avril could theoretically be a deadly combination if both are healthy and able to get off the line, but that is not guaranteed. In addition, the Hawks will not necessarily be putting both players on the field throughout the game. On paper, the Jags should not represent a major challenge for the Seahawks. This may be an excellent opportunity to ease back into the NFL routine. Then again, Seattle may be a bit cautious with Clemons and avoid the risk of re-injuring that knee. At this point in his career, no one expects Clemons to post 11.5 sacks like he did in 2012. However, a handful of sacks would certainly help the squad and aid the overall effectiveness of the defense.

He was constant energy, always a positive guy no matter what happened in the game. From the beginning of the season to the end, he was upbeat and high energy every single day. Seattle Seahawks among league’s deepest teams

This time its Gil Brandt, former personnel director for the Dallas Cowboys and an analyst at NFL.com, who ranks Seattle second in the league in terms of roster depth . Michael Bennett and the Seahawks defensive line harassed Colin Kaepernick all game long Sunday night. (AP Photo/Elaine Thompson) In particular, Brandt likes the Hawks reserves on both lines, noting that the team has been able to withstand the absence of left tackle Russell Okung on offense and defensive end Chris Clemons and linebacker Bruce Irvin on defense. Heres what Brandt had to say about the Seahawks D without Clemons and Irvin: Offseason addition Michael Bennett had four tackles and a sack while starting in Clemons stead on Sunday, and fellow free-agent acquisition Cliff Avril added a sack of his own. And it goes beyond the proven veterans: Rookie Benson Mayowa, who went undrafted out of Idaho but proved worthy of making the final roster, is the kind of depth-boosting asset that winning teams tend to find. Brandt also singled out quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, running back Christine Michael and tight end Luke Willson as reserves who could fill in admirably if the players ahead of them went down with injury. The only team Brandt ranked ahead of the Hawks was the San Francisco 49ers, while the Houston Texans, Cincinnati Bengals and Green Bay Packers round out his top five. Maybe that will help soften the blow for Niners fans still smarting from Sunday nights 29-3 thumping at CenturyLink Field.

That said, it is a different world with modern medicine, Russell Wilson Jersey and players can now come back quickly from injuries that in the past might have ended their careers. It will be interesting to see how much Clemons plays and where he falls on the depth chart.

Seahawks take it ‘one game at a time’

Hes a big part of what we do on defense. Hes one of our leaders. Were excited for him to contribute with how hard hes worked to get back, Bryant said. Its going to be big, man. We really cant put into words how excited we really are that hes back. Notes: DT Jordan Hill was officially ruled out for the game with a strained biceps. … FB Spencer Ware (ankle) and S Jeron Johnson (hamstring) are both listed as doubtful. Carroll confirmed Ware suffered a high ankle sprain last week against the 49ers. …

No lie: Seahawks’ offensive efficiency must improve

All those guys can run-block well and Paul is no different. But just understanding what his strengths are, what his weaknesses are, and as long as we dont stay in one protection, then we can change it up on the defense. Were not going to give him help every play, were not going to leave him by himself every play, but theres just different things you can continue to do to give them different looks so they cant just tee off on your protections. With a dearth of talent up front, Bevell and Tom Cable are going to have to be creative the rest of the way. The offense The Hawks threw the ball well at Carolina and ran well vs. the 49ers, but they have yet to put together a complete game on offense. With games in Houston and Indianapolis looming, this would be a good time to put it all together and get some confidence. A fast start for Russell Wilson would be nice. He and the receivers have not been in sync early in games, and that could end up costing the Hawks the next couple of weeks.

Big favorite or not, Seahawks strive for perfection

Players have bought in, that much is clear when you talk to any of them and they repeat the same message their coach preaches over and over, but getting to that point took a little time and effort. “Yeah, guys are skeptical,” Carroll said. “You know, ‘Does he say that this week? OK. He’s said it for a few weeks, is he going to stick with it?’ And these guys have pounded with our mentality and the things that we think of to the point where I don’t think they think any other way now. “But it still takes a really acute attention to the detail of the discipline of this because you’ve just pulled so much in other directions and could be swayed so easily by following the build-up, the hype, and all of the enormous amount of information that’s out there; talking about our situations. So my biggest challenge is to keep their heads in this room and how we think and how we do things.” The results show it did take time for Carroll’s message to get across. The biggest reason the Seahawks are better now than they were in 2010 and 2011 is an upgrade in talent, but the performances of the Seahawks in the first couple of years under Carroll were much less consistent, particularly in 2010 when every loss came by double digits. Bad teams get blown out a lot; inconsistent ones get blown out some weeks, then knock off the defending champs in the playoffs another week.

The game carries some emotional overtones for the Seahawks, particularly on defense, as the new Jaguars coach, Gus Bradley, previously served as Seattles defensive coordinator. We obviously (have) to go out there and do our jobs effectively and hopefully shut them out, but its going to be tough because hes such a great coach and such a great friend to a lot of the guys on this team, All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman said of Bradley. Bradleys defense is rated in the leagues top 10, but the issues on offense have been compounded by injuries to quarterback Blaine Gabbert (hand) and top running back Maurice Jones-Drew (ankle). Gabbert will be replaced by Chad Henne, and Jones-Drews return is considered questionable. Despite Seattles 2-0 start, Carroll this week stressed the need to get better consistency from the offense. We have a lot of areas to improve in, he said. We hurt ourselves too much in the first couple games.

Sherman: No letdown coming for Seahawks

Playing the 49ers means everybody brings a sense of energy, Wilson said. The players do, the coaches do, the fans do. This one [the Jacksonville game] isnt the NFC West, so we have to make sure were ready to go. This team plays in the National Football League, too, so we have to make sure our mindset is right and this is a championship week, which it is. Carroll said he has emphasized the importance of the game, not the opponent, since he first arrived. For four years now, its getting these guys convinced of how powerful that is,” Carroll said, and how that gives you, in my opinion, the best opportunity to be highly consistent. We do not want our play to vary based on who we are playing. We want to play the very best every time out. Thats why we talk championship games.

Sidney Rice Returns To Seahawks

Sidney Rice fantasy update: Knee injury won’t hinder fantasy status

Rice was mostly a spectator on Friday as the Seahawks held a scrimmage while preparing for their preseason opener next Thursday at San Diego. Rice caught a few passes on the side and Carroll said he is expected to return to practice on Sunday. “Everything went great, exactly as they hoped,” Carroll said. “We’ll see what happens as he progresses, but hopefully it was a good move for him.” Rice flew about 10,000 miles round trip to Switzerland to have a plasma injection into his knee to help with patella tendinitis. Rice spent two nights in Europe and said the procedure took only about 20 minutes. “It was something I set up earlier in the offseason a little after the OTAs and it was a long process, things I had to go through with the doctors over there,” Rice said. “I was just fortunate that Coach gave me the opportunity to go over there and get it done and thankful for my teammates not making a big deal about leaving practice, leaving them here in camp and going and getting it done. I’m grateful to be in a good organization like this to go handle that.” Rice, hampered by knee issues late last season, finished the 2012 campaign with 50 catches for 748 yards and seven touchdowns.

Fantasy Drops Week 3: Brandon Weeden, Josh Freeman and Sidney Rice Busts As Phillip Rivers and Marlon Brown Best Pick Ups

And as it turns out, they were serious. Through the first two weeks of NFL action, we hadn’t seen anyone get flagged for spinning the ball. But during last night’s 49ers/Seahawks game, Seattle wide receiver Sidney Rice celebrated a catch by getting up, spinning the football, and then heading back to the huddle. And guess what? He got flagged for it and his team took a hit for the penalty. Fortunately, Rice’s gaffe didn’t matter. The Seahawks beat the Ninerseasilyby a score of 29-3. But still, how silly is this?

Hot Read: Foreign players 130917 [203x114]

Weeden was hurt on his thumb and the team will wait until they can see how it heals before deciding whether to start someone else on Sunday. The Browns have struggled on offense and the line play as been rough, with Weeden being sacked a double-digit amount of times already this season. Weeden ended up getting x-rays that did not come back positive and now he will be left playing the waiting game to see if he is healed up enough to play. Weeden threw for 227 yards on Sunday, but the offense once again had trouble sustaining drives and getting into the endzone and now it seems that any chance of Weeden being a fantasy option is over, He should be one of the top drops and one player that is interesting to check out heading into Week 3 is Philip Rivers of the Chargers. Weeden passed for just 289 yards against the Dolphins in week 1 and now he has three picks and just one touchdown on the year. Rivers was overlooked by many fantasy owners at the start of the season after having a rough 2012, but after two weeks he appears to be a very good fantasy option, as he has thrown for seven touchdowns and just one interception through two games. Although the Chargers are 1-1, Rivers was fantastic against the eagles throwing for 419 yards and three touchdowns while also completing over 75 percent of his passes. This was the Rivers many players remember and he is available in over 70 percent of ESPN leagues and could be a nice backup option or starter if Weeden was the quarterback. Josh Freeman has not been good either and he could be on the verge of losing his starting job if the Buccaneers and the quarterback does not play well against the Patriots.

Seahawks’ Sidney Rice receiving knee treatment in Switzerland

“You’ve got Doug (Baldwin) on me because last year he was the one that let them know I was concussed, I believe the Baltimore game, I was running the wrong plays out there,” Rice said. “He came over and checked on me. They just wanted to make sure I was fine.” Wide receiver Golden Tate, who caught a touchdown to give the Seahawks a brief lead late in regulation, helped Rice to the sideline once Rice was allowed to get up. “First off, just making sure he was all right, the fact he was walking, talking, that was a positive sign,” Tate said. “I was like, ‘Good job, Sidney. You did it, you made a play when we needed it and got it done.’ He wasn’t saying much.

So, what did he do with the rest of his time in Zurich? Sidney Rice lets out a yell after missing a catch at the opening day of Seahawks training camp July 25. (Jordan Stead/seattlepi.com) Oh, just hung out with some Seahawks fans. Rice on Sunday told Q13-TV that a Seahawks fan living in Switzerland reached out to Rice on Twitter after seeing that the star wide receiver was in town, and invited Rice to a barbecue. Rice responded with a private message and got the address. After the treatment I actually showed up at his house, played a game of Madden (the video game) with him and his brother, Rice told Q13. They were pretty stoked. That was pretty cool. So, is Rice as dominant in Madden as he is on the football field?

Seahawks WR Sidney Rice heads to Switzerland for treatment on knee

At the very least, it would be a surprise to see Rice play in the preseason, even if he is back stateside next month. The Seahawks signed Rice to a five-year, $41 million contract after the 2011 lockout. Injuries, including multiple concussions in 2011, has limited Rice to 25 games over his two seasons in Seattle, during which the 2009 Pro Bowler has 82 receptions for 1,232 yards and nine touchdowns. Rice had an impressive 2012, staying healthy for all 16 games and catching 50 passes, seven for touchdowns, and was 14th among wide receivers in Football Outsiders’ receiving DYAR (Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement) metric. Rice is scheduled to earn $8.5 million in base salary this season, $3.5 million of which is guaranteed for injury. Between Rice’s injuries, the Seahawks trading for Harvin and signing him to a long-term extension and the club being high on 2010 second-round pick and 2014 unrestricted free agent Golden Tate, who was 18th in receiving DYAR and emerged as a threat after the catch as well as on the perimeter, 2013 is shaping up to be Rice’s final season with the Seahawks.

A number of American athletes in a number of sports have gone to Europe for Regenokine injection treatments. The procedure has not been approved the FDA, but athletes contend the procedure is beneficial. It involves removing blood from the body, separating it to create a protein-rich serum designed to accelerate healing to injured areas of the body after the blood is re-injected. Rice played the latter part of the 2012 season with knee pain, but was never sidelined.

Sidney Rice Seahawks training camp 2013

Coach Pete Carroll told reporters Tuesday he was optimistic Rice wouldn’t miss any game action, suggesting the receiver will be ready for the Seahawks ‘ preseason opener Aug. 8 against the San Diego Chargers . Our primary question is why Rice — bothered by knee issues late last season — would participate in a preseason tilt if questions remain about his health. With Harvin facing a long rehab from hip surgery, the Seahawks will ask Rice to play an every-down role for much of the season. No reason to rush to rush him back, but maybe Switzerland is just a magical place. UPDATE:Carroll said during a news conference Friday that Rice will practice Sunday.

Sidney Rice returns to Seahawks after knee treatment

Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 Sidney Rice fantasy update: Knee injury won’t hinder fantasy status Related In partnership with SBNation.com By Jack Choros Seahawks wide receiver Sidney Rice (knee) is listed as probable for Sunday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers . He was a full participant in practice on both Thursday and Friday and will start as usual. More: For more Seahawks info, visit Field Gulls Once considered a rising star and future go-to guy after coming over from the Minnesota Vikings in 2011, Rice was only targeted three times by quarterback Russell Wilson in Week 1. Fantasy Impact: It looks as if Rice might well be behind both Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin on the depth chart in Seattle. That’s bad news for his fantasy stock when you consider that Percy Harvin (hip) is expected to play by Week 7 or 8 depending on how much he progresses. This would surely be a crushing blow to Rice’s fantasy value and he’ll eventually be no more than a flex option at best. Keep up with all of our Fantasy Coverage

Healthy Sidney Rice Could Help Seattle Seahawks’ Offense

Thats why head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider signed the 6-foot-4 pass catcher for five years and $41 million last year even though he came from Minnesota with the reputation for being injury-prone. He lived down to that stigma last season, missing the first two games with shoulder problems and then hitting injured reserve in late November after suffering two concussions in three weeks. Then he had surgeries on both shoulders in the offseason, which laid him up until training camp and limited him in the preseason. Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell was with Rice in Minnesota three years ago, when he caught 83 passes for 1,312 yards and eight scores. Bevell knows what he can do. Bevell also knows Rice has not been healthy the past two years, playing just 15 games in 2010 and 2011. But he is healthy now and has shown he is ready and very willing to start earning all of that money.

“But you see these young quarterbacks — the talent, the leadership and the maturity that they have — and I think it’s exciting for football.” Sunday marks just the second installment of what should be a long-running series. Kaepernick is 25. Wilson is 24. Combined, they have a mere 25 career regular-season starts. Even St. Louis Rams youngster Sam Bradford has 43 all by himself. But their early flashes of potential have raised eyebrows (and perhaps razed an eyebrow. More on that later).

How short rookie QB Russell Wilson reached new heights

“He used to always wake me up early in the morning, and he’d have me throwing speed outs at age 10, 11,” Wilson says. “He helped build that determination in me.” Wilson’s father suffered from complications from diabetes for years and died at 55 on June 9, 2010, the day after Russell was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball draft. Wilson, then a football and baseball player at North Carolina State, was at his father’s side as he was dying, telling him he’d been drafted. (Wilson went on to play two years of minor league baseball but eventually decided to focus on football and transferred for a final year of football to Wisconsin, which he led to last year’s Rose Bowl.) “My husband was pretty out of it, but certain things you could tell him and you could see tears come down his eyes,” says Wilson’s mother, Tammy, a legal nurse consultant. “(Russell) didn’t freak out. He was resolved.

We break down the fantasy implications. Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson completed 25-of-33 passes for 320 yards on Sunday versus the Carolina Panthers . More: For more on the Seahawks, check out Field Gulls It took Wilson some time to get going, as he threw for just 122 yards at the half, but he opened things up later with a 43-yard touchdown strike to Jermaine Kearse. It would be his only touchdown of the game, but it was enough to dispatch the Panthers by a final score of 12-7. Fantasy Spin: It wasn’t the dominant fantasy effort owners have come to expect from mobile quarterbacks such as Wilson, but it was impressive given the circumstances. The second-year QB was pressured routinely by Carolina’s front seven, and fumbled on one occasion, but he still managed to eclipse the 300-yard mark without the aid of an effective running game. Fowler: Seahawks QB Russell Wilson looks forward to returning ‘home’ to play Panthers

Russell Wilson decided to try it again. And it worked in a big way for the Seattle Seahawks. Wilson threw a 43-yard touchdown pass to Jermaine Kearse in the fourth quarter and Seattles defense came up with a huge turnover in the final minutes of a 12-7 win Sunday over the Carolina Panthers. The Seahawks managed just two field goals before Kearse beat cornerback Josh Thomas down the right sideline for his first career touchdown catch with 10:13 left. The score came one play after Wilson attempted a nearly identical pass although on a different play call but Stephen Williams couldnt come up with the diving catch. Kearse did. The second-year receiver made a leaping grab in the end zone over Thomas for the go-ahead score. Mike McCarn/AP Panthers QB Cam Newton (r.) is limited to just 125 yards passing with on touchdown.

He certainly was competent, going 24 of 38 for 272 yards, one touchdown and one interception. And he didn’t have any help from high-priced, free-agent acquisition Mike Wallace , who Marshawn Lynch Nike Jersey caught one pass for 15 yards. If Wallace’s quotes after the game are any indication, it looks like Tannehill might have to soothe Wallace’s hurt feelings this week. Otherwise, he can just keep feeding it to Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson (a combined 16 catches for 191 yards). Grade: B Brandon Weeden, Browns : It feels like I’ve defended Brandon Weeden all offseason by saying, Hey, his rookie season wasn’t as good as guys like Luck and Griffin, but in historical terms for a first-year quarterback, he was decent enough. He wasn’t so decent vs. the Dolphins, completing less than 50 percent of his passes for 289 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. After the game, he said he’d never been hit that much before in one game.

Grading the sophomore QBs: Russell Wilson is still pretty good

“We trust him in everything we’re calling. That’s a wonderful feeling. It’s remarkable that you can say that about a first-year guy.” It doesn’t seem remarkable to Wilson’s older brother, Harry. He’s always known his kid brother to be prepared, cool and poised except maybe for a thrown video game controller or two. “He’s got a lot more to accomplish,” Harry says. “He’s got a lot of goals, and there’s no time to get excited about anything. Whether it’s starting or getting a win, it’s all just part of what the plan is.” Wilson says he’ll have “tons” of family and friends coming from Richmond to the game Sunday.

Russell Wilson, point guard quarterback

The former N.C. State and current Seattle quarterback has become very hot entering his second season much like Cam Newton was entering his second season in 2012. We’re almost in the same boat, you know? Newton said Wednesday. It is an apt comparison. Although Newton would tower over Wilson in a team picture the Panthers quarterback is 6 inches taller and roughly 40 pounds heavier they share the same dual-threat skill set as well as the same agent. How well Carolina contends with Wilson on Sunday in the 1 p.m. season opener at home against Seattle will be critical. As for Wilson, he doesnt mind the cross-country road trip in store for him this weekend.

08, 2013 Modified: Monday, Sep. 09, 2013 Full box score Russell Wilson plays quarterback as if hes a point guard. All afternoon he worked under a heavy rush and was sacked only twice. He moves as if he leads a fast break, looking for open teammates. Some of the completions were near miraculous. Wilson, the former Wisconsin and N.C. State quarterback, completed 25 of 33 passes for 320 yards and a touchdown.

With poise beyond his years, Wilson leads Seahawks into playoffs

He responded in the only way he knew how, by being proactive. Before the team plane arrived back in Seattle that night, he had made up his mind to focus on what they needed to get things right, rather than dwell on what they had done wrong. So he began putting together a detailed scouting report on the defensive backs and linebackers of the Carolina Panthers, who were next on the schedule. Then he left it in the lockers of his wide receivers. The next weekend Wilson set season-highs in completions (19), passing yards (221) and completion percentage (76.0). He also showed resilience by tossing the go-ahead score in the 16-12 victory after being intercepted on back-to-back possessions.

Arian Foster And Marshawn Lynch Show Off Amazing Hairdos

Christine Michael and Knile Davis Top Fantasy Football RB Handcuffs For Marshawn Lynch and Jamaal Charles In 2013 Drafts

Dressing athletes up in multi-generational costumes isnt exactly a new thing when it comes to commercials. Remember the LeBrons ? How about Kyrie Irvings Uncle Drew series ? That said, the latest promo for Madden NFL 25 featuring Arian Foster and Marshawn Lynch (or should we say, their fathers Darian Foster and Marshawn Lynch, Sr.) certainly elevates the genre. Here are our five favorite concepts from the ad. 1) Marshawn Lynchs hair Its majestic throughout the whole commercial, but paired with this jacket.incredible. 2) Russell Wilson Authentic Jersey Young Arian Foster pulling a convertible Is that a Mazda Miata? I think thats a Mazda Miata. 3) Young Marshawn Lynchs running drill against a grizzly.

Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch – 2013 Fantasy Football Outlook

2012 Fantasy Football Draft Kit

Davis had some fumbling problems in the preseason, but Reid said it was not much of an issue and since he can also return kicks, he likely will get more chances on the field over Cyrus Gray behind Charles. Charles is just a year off of ACL surgery and while he made it through last season, there is always a chance he could get hurt again and Reid will be aware of how much he is on the field after dealing with a foot issue in the preseason. Lynch has been one of the most consistent and productive backs over the past three years and he has been the goal line back for the Seahawks and Michael could come in and do some damage when Lynch is off the field or if he gets hurt. Lynch is ranked second in the NFL in rushing over the past two seasons and he has been solid out of the backfield and even though he will get the bulk of carries for the Seahawks, Michael looks like a better handcuff option than Robert Turbin. Michael didn’t put up great numbers in the preseason, but he rushed for 13 carries and had two catches in the preseason finale and his size will give him a chance to get into the game for Lynch. Many see Michael as a future running back for Seattle and he could surprise this season if given enough chances, just like Davis. Michael was picked number 62 from Texas A&M in the second round and that came before a number of talented players in April. Turbin will still be in the mix for the Seahawks, but it looks like Michael will get more opportunities as the season wears on and he could be a sleeper after rushing fort 186 yards and a touchdown in the preseason. He had an athletic 40-yard score in the preseason and that type of play could get him on the field more consistently.

Gurley earns Jamal Lews/Marshawn Lynch comp

Every carry he gets, its like his last carry, Seahawks quarterback Tarvaris Jackson said earlier this month. He fights for every yard and it shows. Thats the type of guy you want behind you. Lynch is all the rage in Seattle, where fans showered him with Skittles after he set a new franchise record by getting into the end zone for the ninth consecutive game. Why, you ask? Well, on Dec. 1, NFL Network cameras showed Lynch gobbling up a handful of Skittles on the sideline during Seattles romp over Philadelphia. Duce Staley had his pickle juice , and now Lynch has his own form of fuel.

<h3 Site Here style=”clear:both”>Marshawn Lynch has Seahawks running in “Beast Mode”

He also had 10 100-yard rushing games and the Seahawks expect him to carry the offense even as Russell Wilson improves. Lynch is at the peak of his career now and should put up similar numbers that he did in 2012. Fantasy Downside Lynch is a very physical runner so you are always concerned he is going to get beat up physically. He also is not involved in the passing game as much as you would like, but that’s minor in the bigger picture. Keep an eye on his fumbles as he lost the ball five times. Bottom Line Lynch is a top 5 back again in 2013. In fact, he is a better pick then the likes of Arian Foster and Ray Rice. His yardage might be a little lower because of Wilson, but not much. The TDs should stay the same or even be better.

Bama WR Bell tweets retirement from football Alabama senior WR Kenny Bell appears to have announced his retirement from football via Twitter. “I know Im going to lose so many friends and followers and get more negative talk from people but truth is I [don’t] care,” Bell posted, “[I].ts been a nice run but Im hanging up my cleats… time too [sic] focus on my responsibilities MY KIDS. Ive made so many memories here (at) Alabama but some things you gotta let go. Salute to the team yall keep grinding and win that championship.” Bell was listed as a co-starter during the preseason but did not register a catch in the season opener against Virginia Tech. Noles’ Joyner tallies two sacks in CB debut Florida State senior Lamarcus Joyner tallied nine tackles, including two sacks, in his debut at CB. Joyner was able to get to the quarterback on nickel packages, hiding his blitz intentions to open up free lanes. This is a good sign for his pro potential, since it is the package Joyner will have to thrive in. He’s a smaller built safety/corner hybrid, but Joyner plays much bigger than his listed height.

The 12th man was so noisy and booming, that the ground was literally rocking. In fact, a nearby seismometer registered activity over 100 yards! The Seahawks had beaten the Saints in one of the biggest NFL Playoff upsets the league has ever seen. One that would still be written and read about over nine years later as if it occurred yesterday. The Seahawks eventually lost in the playoffs that year, however Lynch was doing pretty well for himself the following seasons in Seattle. Enough to push the front office brass in Seattle to offer him a four-year extension worth $31 million. While Lynch was the spotlight in Seattle, AP was still captivating the limelight across the nation. Since entering the league in 2007, AP has gained over 8500 rushing yards and 75 touchdowns. Lynch has only gained a little more than 6000 yards and 45 touchdowns. AP has won numerous All-Pro honors, an MVP award, and someone somewhere is rumored to have an orange peanut ready for him.
