How Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson Improbably Became a Top NFL Talent

Fantasy football 2013 Earl Thomas Authentic Jersey draft preview: Seattle Seahawks team report

Teams were concerned that Wilson would have a tough time finding throwing lanes in the pocket. His naysayers didnt get him down. The future NFL star continued to hone his craft and outwork the competition. At the NFL Scouting Combine, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.55 seconds , he mastered the 3-cone drill in 6.97 seconds and his 20-yard shuttle time was outstanding at 4.09 seconds. No quarterback outperformed Wilson in those three drills. His exceptional performance had his stock on the rise, yet scouts still had the blinders on when it came to his height. Its hard to blame them.

One of a quarterback’s best friends is a dominant running back who is excellent in pass protection. You know, exactly like Marshawn Lynch. Thanks to that and a dominant defense, there’s about as little pressure on Wilson as there can be on a quarterback of a team with legitimate Super Bowl hopes. However, the offense is built around him and Lynch, and they’ll employ the read-option as frequently as the Redskins and 49ers (with Colin Kaepernick). Unfortunately, the team’s big offseason acquisition, Percy Harvin, will be out until at least mid-November after undergoing hip surgery. It’s a blow, to be sure, but Wilson will still be working with the same contingent of receivers he had when he took the league by storm last year, led by Sidney Rice and Golden Tate. All the pieces are in place for Wilson to build on his rookie season and take another step forward in 2013, both in real life and fantasy. He’s the 10th quarterback on my board, a solid starter in any fantasy league, and one of the prime reasons why you can still afford to wait on a quarterback.

Healthy Thurmond competes for spot with Seahawks

He’s a playmaker. He’s started for us, he’s played great for us. To have him really feeling good is the best part. He feels great. Physically he’s really on his game right now, so it gives him a chance to really battle for front-line playing time.” Front-line playing time? At whose expense. After all, the Seahawks have Sherman and Brandon Browner, a Pro Bowler in 2011, starting on the outside, and they signed Pro Bowl corner Antoine Winfield to play the nickel corner role. Well even if Winfield is the favorite to win a job, don’t write off Thurmond at that spot just yet. “It feels good being back out here, and I have a solid, legitimate chance to compete for a starting spot,” Thurmond said.

How Seahawks’ Kam Chancellor made his mom cry

The team announced that Harvin will have surgery on Thursday. Harvin went to New York on Tuesday to meet with a hip specialist.Seahawksdoctors had said that they believed the injury was not season-threatening, but Harvin exercised his right to seek a second opinion. The team had originally placed him on the physically unable to perform list to start training camp. Seattle traded for Harvin in March and quickly signed him to a six-year, $67 million contract. The Seahawks sent a first-round and a seventh-round pick in the 2013 draft and a third-round pick in the 2014 draft to the Minnesota Vikings for Harvin. Seahawks WR Percy Harvin says injured hip will require surgery

(AP) By Jamie Skorheim While Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor has been called one of the most intimidating players in the National Football League, it turns out he also has a sweet side. In a Wednesday appearance on “Brock and Danny,” Chancellor revealed he recently purchased his mom a house after signing his four-year contract extension with the Seahawks. “She cried tears of joy, tears of happiness,” Chancellor said. “She deserves it. She’s been working hard all her life to take care of six kids with no father figure around and I think she deserves every bit of it.” Giving his mom the house was just as gratifying as getting a new home himself, he said. “It was a very happy moment. I was talking to my business manager the whole time it was going on like, ‘Man, I feel like I’m getting a new house,'” Chancellor said. “I was happy for her.” His mom isn’t the only one he’s looking out for.
